SDG 2: Zero hunger

reducing food consumption

The Western diet tends to be a diet of over-consumption! The World is producing enough food and food wastage in Australia is high but millions of people in the world are starving. I aim to reduce my food wastage by only buying and consuming what is necessary. It is important to now waste any food. I also aim to buy products where there is little packaging and products that are not destroying the environment (such as palm oil). I know this step is not for everyone but i have made the decision to go vegetarian as it is more sustainable than commercial farming! If going vegetarian is not for you- at least try to reduce food wastage by eating only what you need!

support social equality

Given the social inequalities that continue to persist in society, I'd like to make a pledge and continue to take action against social inequality, whether it be famine, sexism, racism.

Promote vegetarian cooking

Kofi Annan has said one of the simplest and effective ways to reduce carbon emissions and reduce our ecological footprint is by not eating red meat. In our house this is a tricky issue. I am doing my bit. My focus is expanding my repertoire of tasty vegetarian dishes ... tonight it's mushroom and spinach (from the garden) risotto :-))

The vegetarian cooking in our house is going quite well for two out of three of us (the 10 yr old is a work-in-progress). Tonight's menu is Indian vegetarian featuring home grown silverbeet.

No more Plastic

Let it be recycling, planting trees I will ensure that I contribute more to conserve, less to landfill. I will strive to ensure that there will be enough resources for evergrowing new generations. I have been given the privilege to consume without any struggle. The future generation should also be given the same opportunity.
