RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION

RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION

I'm aiming to consume responsibly in a number of different ways! I plan to try and purchase any clothing, furniture or books I need second hand. I'm also going to cook from what I already have in my pantry (rather than getting takeaway) to reduce food waste.

Cooking from what I already have in the pantry!! I dived into the cans/tins section at home and discovered we had heaps of food there that we've been ignoring. So I decided to make a vegan chickpea and bean salad recipe I saw on Tik Tok. It's a super educational app hahaha. The salad was so delicious, cost me nothing and used up food that might have otherwise gone to waste! What a success.

Today at the supermarket I tried to avoid buying or using any plastics! I took a laundry bag to hold my fruit instead of grabbing one of the little plastic bags. Will definitely do this every time I shop for groceries because the little plastic bags always go to waste in our house. For good measure, I decided to ride my bike instead of driving.

Could definitely make a fun little family game out of creating a delicious dish from ingredients already in the pantry.

Buying secondhand goods is a kind of responsible consumption behaviours what I am always doing until now. It only helps me save lots of money but also reducing waste to pollute the environment. Moreover, when I choose a product, I will consider whether I would use it for long-term and frequent.
